In the words of Denver music photographer Ric Urrutia, 「Soulaju is creative, conscious, energetic, sexy, intellectual, and overall: bad ass.」 SOULAJU sings out about issues of cultural identity, self-empowerment , access to education and the arts, gender justice, comprehensive immigration reform, environmental justice and sustainability.
ASUCD Entertainment Council presents:
Maus Haus w/ AB & The Sea @ the Technocultural Studies (TCS) building on Tuesday, April 20, 2010!
Like any good band making original music, San Francisco's Maus Haus doesn't fit squarely into any particular genre. Their unique blend of 60s psychadelia, analog electronics, boisterous horns, and echoey vocals channels groups like Kraftwerk and Death Cab for Cutie—without really sounding like any one of those bands. Utilizing a clusterfuck of instruments, from Korgs and theremin-emulators to trombones and Omnichords, Maus Haus creates a hypnotizing wave of sound that, when experienced live, permeates every bone in your body.

Follow filmmaker Jeremy Seifert and his circle of friends as they 「dumpster dive」 in the back alleys and gated garbage receptacles of L.A.』s supermarkets. In the process, they uncover thousands of dollars worth of good food and an ugly truth about waste in America: grocery stores know they are wasting and most refuse to do anything about it.
Immediately following the screening will be a panel of community food waste and recovery leaders including a 'Master Recycler', Davis Community Meals, and the Yolo County Food Bank
